adding to life's toolbox, Anti-AIDS gene

BIG NEWS FROM VENTER
Craig Venter is my co-pilot. I need that t-shirt now that he has announced that he created synthetic chromosomes to rev up the amount of octane a CO2 producing organism can create. He says that within 18 months they will be able to sell the fuel, and that his modest goal is to replace all oil... pretty modest. This is great news because it USES a greenhouse gas to make a green fuel! wow, no longer content with solving one problem at a time, are you? In fact he didn't just kill to birds with one stone, but he did it by making new chromosomes that nature doesn't use. This is the first time to my knowledge that someone has done that. and since his final goal is to create a whole synthetic organism, i don't see him quitting any time soon. This dude is as close to a god as I have ever seen.
Hard to top that, but it appears now that humans already have a gene that can block HIV and stop AIDS in it's tracks. activating the gene could be a problem, but a quick googlenews of HIV would show that they are looking up a lot of avenues, and i would even go on the record on saying that i think that the first "cure" for a virus will come in the next three years.
Let me finish by adding that researchers have found that the best cure for neck pain is a nice rub from your loved one. After as far as we have come technologically, it's nice to know that sometimes the best thing is just to spend some quality time with the ones you love....
so lets go do that tonight....
have a good night!
